Local Movie Premier Screening - A Communal Memior

Dear Friends, We are excited to be hosting a very special evening for our community this Thursday night.

The première showing of “A Communal Memoir” will be held November 18th at the Occidental Center for the arts at 6:30 pm. Admission is free and donations are requested.

A complementary champagne reception including a cedar enzyme foot baths will follow at Osmosis. Please RSVP for the reception at 823-8231

Please join us to share in some of the most interesting local history. As many of us know, West Sonoma County was the epicenter of the back to the land movement in the late 60’s when a tidal wave of people flowed out of the Haight Ashbury district of San Francisco and came up here to live on the land. Things had gone sour in the city with the Hippie Movement in the summer of 1968. Bill Wheeler along with others invited folks to come up and live on their extensive holdings totaling over a thousand acres between Lou Gotlieb’s Morning Star, The Pastures, Star Mountain and Wheeler’s Ranch. Delia Moon has spent years on her PHD dissertation that chronicles the impact of this experience on peoples lives and made it into an hour film.

In A Communal Memoir members of four Sonoma County communities explore what we may learn from the rupture that occurred in mainstream American society in the 1960’s as a generation widened its concept of home to mean “living on the earth,” and created a new consciousness based on interconnection.

The movie was filmed by Kitty Green (Little Red Hen Productions) and directed by Delia Moon as part of her doctoral dissertation, At Home in the Counterculture.
