Osmosis is located in Western Sonoma County, near the magnificant Sonoma Coast. We're equidistant from the Pacific Ocean and the Russian River, and rich with outdoor opportunities of all kinds. Explore the great coastal redwoods, kayak on the River, or watch from horseback as the sun sets over the Pacific. A range of food, wine, and lodging options are available to fit every taste and budget.
Add this page to your Favorites and stop by whenever you're planning a visit, as we'll be adding new itineraries frequently. Here are some of the possibilities right now:
Join Hollis and Jerry Bewley for a morning of bird watching at Bodega Head. Possible nesters: Western gulls, pelagic cormorants, oystercatchers, Northern harriers, Great blue herons, ravens. Other possible sightings include pigeon guillemots, osprey, Brandt’s cormorants, egrets, and if we’re lucky, a peregrine falcon or burrowing owl. Bring binoculars and dress in layers - They’ll bring a couple of scopes. Register online.
| Morning | Here's a great way to see the sites: tour a Russian River winery on a Segway! The countryside is always beautiful and you'll be riding right through the heart of two great wineries with Segway of Healdsburg (they'll make sure you remain upright--they start with a training session). |
| Lunch | Segway of Healdsburg will even provide a gourmet lunch if you ask - or visit one of the many foodie havens in Healdsburg. |
| Afternoon | After lunch, drive to Guerneville for a walk in Armstrong Redwoods (cool and shady after a morning among the vines). Follow this with dinner at Guerneville's Boon, a fabulous restaurant that's known for exciting food at reasonable prices. (Closed Tues-Weds.) |
| Stay Over | Dawn Ranch Lodge is a great place to stay in Guerneville, right on the River with private access, this century-old guest ranch is a charmer. |
| Next Day | Next morning head west to Monte Rio and catch the Bohemian Highway south to Occidental for breakfast at Howard's Station (and free wi-fi if you absolutely must catch up on email). Big, delicious breakfasts with fresh-squeezed juices. The porch seating option is fun. Bring cash as they're cash ONLY. |
